Course Type:
PhD Course
Academic Year:
2013-2014
Period:
February-June
Duration:
20 h
Description:

The course comprises topics in the field of Solid Mechanics  and is aimed at the presentation of both theoretical and experimental results.The topics covered include:

  • solution of boundary value problems in plane elasticity (crack, rigid inclusion in an elastic solid);
  • introduction to photoelasticity, comparison of calculated solutions with experimental evidence;
  • plasticity at small strains and solution of relevant boundary value problems;
  • mechanics as applied to the motility of biological systems (theory and experiments).
