In this seminar I recall some basic facts about Bogomolov's
inequality and semistable Higgs vector bundles on complex surfaces.
Then as applications we obtain another proof of the semistability of
the tensor product of two semistable Higgs bundles on Calabi-Yau
manifolds and some new results about semistable vector Higgs bundle on
rationally connected varieties and abelian varieties.
