AB - We introduce a new model of irreversible quasistatic crack growth in which the evolution of cracks is the limit of a suitably modified $\\\\epsilon$-gradient flow of the energy functional, as the \\\"viscosity\\\" parameter $\\\\epsilon$ tends to zero.
