Abelian categories and Quiver representations

Speaker:

Abstract:

As the title suggest, the aim of the seminar is twofold. The first half will be devoted to define abelian categories and outline their main features. The second half will be centered on a simple but important example: finite dimensional linear representations of a quiver. This abelian category shares some features with the category of coherent sheaves on a Calabi-Yau threefold, and DT invariants for quiver representations were defined by Joyce and Song in their book. The aim of the seminar is to present some background for this topic, which will be tackled in some weeks.
