Abstract:
In this talk I will discuss the Gauss hypergeometric differential equation, its solutions and monodromy data. I will also discuss the Kummer confluent hypergeometric differential equation, Stokes' phenomenon and Gevrey asymptotics. A confluence procedure from Gauss' to Kummer's equations will be analysed and I will end by explaining the outlook to my research project, which is concerned with the confluence of the Painlevé equations.
