Abstract:
In this second seminar, I will present some noncommutative geometric
methods in the mathematical treatment of the Integer Quantum Hall Effect
(IQHE). I will first illustrate Classical and Quantum Hall effects,
discussing the role of disorder. Then I will state the Kubo formula for
the Hall conductivity, and give a sketch of the techniques from
noncommutative geometry which are involved in its proof.
