Abstract:
We study 2D Fermionic time-reversal invariant topological insulators, which are known to exhibit a Z_2 topological invariant, in the strongly-disordered, mobility gap regime. For the topological invariants of such systems it is particularly difficult to define local trace formulas. We define new edge indices (which requires regularization) using Fredholm theory, prove the bulk-edge correspondence and comment on issues relating to delocalization and ac-spectrum for such systems. This is based on ongoing joint work with Jeffrey Schenker.
