Abstract:
Given a n+1-tuple of positive integers Q=(q0,...,qn), the weighted projective space P(Q) is the complex projective varietiy whose coordinate ring is the polynomial ring C[x0,...,xn], where one imposes deg(xi)=qi.In this seminar I will expose a toric interpretation of such spaces. Using basic techniques from toric geometry, I will compute their class group and Picard group, and also discuss a criterion to distinguish whether P(Q) is a Gorenstein Fano variety.
