MSc in Mathematics

Italian English SISSA and the University of Trieste coordinate a joint curriculum (the "Percorso Formativo Comune", PFC below) aiming at offering an excellence MSc program in Mathematics for brilliant students who want to follow a high-level research career.

Starting from the academic year 2018/2019 the MSc program will have a curriculum with courses entirely taught in English (more details here). This curriculum is part of the PFC program and gives the possibility to both Italian and international students to obtain the PFC Diploma.

Every year SISSA awards some fellowships to brilliant students, both Italian and international, who want to be enrolled to the PFC program.
The program is however open to all students, also those without a fellowship. Fellows are committed to the following academic requirements: pass all the exams with a grade no lower than 24/30 and with a weighted average of at least 27/30; the curriculum and the MSc thesis should be approved by a SISSA committee and each fellow must attend a final examination.
At the end of the two years of the MSc program, students who have fulfilled all the merit requirements will be awarded the PFC Diploma. The diploma can also be awarded to students without the fellowship, given that they have satisfied the above academic requirements.

Fellowships are assigned through a competitive selection, aiming at verifying the basic mathematical knowledge of the candidates and their attitude toward a research activity. Exceptionally qualified non-EU students can be assigned the fellowship based on their curriculum. (Details for the application can be found below.)
