Abstract:
In this talk I will give an overview of Krylov space methods for constructing a sequence of approximate solutions to a given linear system, ideally converging to the exact solution in a finite number of steps. Then I will discuss how finite precision computations differ from the ideal case, and present some strategies used in practice to achieve a good approximation with a reasonable computational effort.
