Title:The Toda system on compact surfaces

Abstract: I will consider the Toda system on a compact surface, namely a coupled system of Liouville-type equations. The motivations to study this problem are both in geometry in the description of holomorphic curves and in mathematical physics, as it is a model for non-abelian Chern-Simons vortices. I will mainly focus on the existence aspect using variational methods.
